AI Usage Policy

Al-Mabsut: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Sosial recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing and research. The journal establishes the following policy to ensure transparency, accountability, and academic integrity in all submitted manuscripts.

  1. Permissible Use of AI
Authors may use AI tools (such as language models, grammar checkers, or translation tools) to assist in improving the clarity, readability, and language quality of their manuscripts. However, such tools must not replace the authors’ own intellectual contribution.
  2. Prohibited Use of AI
AI tools must not be used to generate substantial portions of the manuscript, including original arguments, data analysis, or conclusions, without proper human oversight. The use of AI to fabricate data, citations, or references is strictly prohibited.
  3. Disclosure Requirement
Authors are required to clearly disclose any use of AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript. This disclosure should be included in a dedicated section (e.g., “Acknowledgements” or “Author’s Note”) specifying the type of AI tool used and the purpose of its use.
  4. Authorship Responsibility
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. All authors listed in the manuscript are fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and integrity of the work, including any parts assisted by AI.
  5. Editorial and Reviewer Use of AI
Editors and reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality and must not upload manuscripts or any part of them into AI tools that may compromise data privacy or intellectual property.
  6. Ethical Compliance
Any misuse of AI that violates publication ethics, including plagiarism, data manipulation, or misrepresentation, will result in rejection of the manuscript or retraction if already published.

This policy aligns with international standards of publication ethics and may be updated as AI technologies continue to evolve.
