This study aims to analyze the application of sanitation and hygiene in improving the economic welfare of dairy farmers in Pulung District. The economic welfare of farmers is greatly influenced by the quality and quantity of milk produced, which is determined by the application of sanitation and hygiene in the livestock environment. Sanitation includes efforts to maintain pen cleanliness, ensure clean water availability, and ensure good waste management. In contrast, hygiene includes the cleanliness of cows, milking equipment, and the milking process. The research method used was direct observation and interviews with farmers to understand the real conditions in the field. The study found that most farmers in Pulung District still did not implement sanitation and hygiene practices optimally. This can be seen from the fact that pens were still not clean, the milking equipment was not properly sterilized, and milking processes did not meet hygiene standards. The main inhibiting factors were farmers' lack of knowledge and awareness of the importance of sanitation and hygiene, as well as limited supporting facilities. On the other hand, the application of good sanitation and hygiene practices has been proven to improve the quality and quantity of milk, thereby positively impacting the income and economic welfare of farmers. This study recommends ongoing education and assistance for farmers to ensure sanitation and hygiene standards are consistently applied, thereby increasing the productivity and welfare of dairy farmers in Pulung District.
